The Microfinance CEO Working Group (MCWG), the Smart Campaign, and AMFIU sucessfully held a conference on 17 and 18, January 2017  under the theme Committing to Action: Accelerating Financial Inclusion through Partnership in Uganda. It took place at the City Royal Resort Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

This conference served as a unique opportunity to convene Uganda’s top financial inclusion stakeholders and experts and discuss ways in which we can commit to accelerating financial inclusion and consumer protection in the country.

On 17 January, Committing to Action: Accelerating Financial Inclusion through Partnership in Uganda had sessions on a number of topics, including the state of financial inclusion in Uganda, infrastructure requirements, digital solutions, increasing women as staff and consumers, and product development for rural outreach and agriculture.

Day 2 of the conference, 18 January, was co-hosted by the Smart Campaign and attendees had the opportunity to take advantage of workshops on client protection that focused on advancing financial consumer protection practice at their institutions, as well as hear an analysis on consumer financial protection laws in Uganda.
