The summit will run under the theme Embracing Technology To Enhance Financial Inclusion: Any Trade Offs?. It will take place from 16th – 17th November 2017, Hotel Africana, Kampala Uganda

About the Microfinance Summit
The East Africa Microfinance Summit is an annual regional event that brings together various microfinance stakeholders to share experiences, introduce innovations and facilitate networking amongst various stakeholders.

This is the 3rd event being organized in East Africa following summits hosted in Kenya and Tanzania in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The past summits have attracted over 300 participants from Central Banks from the East African region, financial services providers, academic institutions, wholesale lenders, social investors, donors and development partners among others.

About the theme
The theme; “ Embracing technology to enhance financial inclusion: Any trade- offs?” considers the space that microfinance could occupy if it fully embraces new technology, or the detachment it will suffer if it does not. But is it really a simple binary choice between technology and tradition?  Can we find a “third way” to maintain the unique value of microfinance within the digital world? What does a microfinance institution need to go digital, and what are the risks? This Summit will be a key platform to debate the trade-offs, make the case for digital, and critically examine what aspects of traditional service delivery we need to preserve.

Target Audience
The summit is expected to attract over 400 microfinance stakeholders and these will include:

  • Financial Institutions
