The 2006 Citigroup Micro-entrepreneurship Awards Program PDF  | Print |  E-mail
The 2006 Microentrepreneurship Awards program, which Citigroup has implemented in partnership with Association of Microfinance Institutions in Uganda (AMFIU) and ACCION, has been a resounding success. More than 70 microentrepreneurs applied to the program through over 40 MFIs and SACCOs, and 11 microentrepreneurs will be taking home awards.
The Citigroup Microentrepreneurship Awards strive to ensure that the small business owners throughout Uganda are recognised for their efforts at creating a sustainable business.

The goal of the program is to promote microenterprise and increase awareness of their financial services needs, in what is broadly known as microfinance. More importantly, the aim of this initiative is to put the spotlight on local microentrepreneurs who are helping to uplift the economic fortunes of their communities, and bringing in more capital into their developing economies.

In Uganda, participating microentrepreneurs presented their businesses to the Microentreprenuership Advisory committee and a panel of judges who have selected the best eleven. These best 11 will be honored tomorrow, Monday 4th December 2006 at 3.00pm at Serena Hotel Kampala. The function will be presided over by H.E The President of The Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
